Climate has not been center stage in this year’s mayoral race, to say the least. That makes our policy rundown pretty easy: neither Sliwa nor Cuomo mention climate change at all in their public platforms. Mamdani is the only candidate with climate as a platform pillar. Mamdani specifically pledges support for the Build Public Renewables Act, the All-Electric Buildings Act, Local Law 97, disaster preparedness, and expanded public transportation. Green schools get a special shout out and policy paper focused on improved HVAC, onsite renewables, new green spaces, and creating green jobs.
