NY Climate Tech and Streetlife Ventures are launching new platforms to support climate founders, funders, and career transitioners! We’re launching a new Climate Tech Pitch Night! We want to provide a platform for local entrepreneurs to practice pitching and receive feedback from a curated panel of experts. Now, after two years and millions of views, they're bringing that same climate change comedy to the stage, where you can see it the way it has never before been seen: LIVE.
🏢 Climate Mobilization Act Series: Cutting Carbon in Co-Ops and Condos
When: Tue, May 9th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM
Where: Building Energy Exchange
BE-Ex, with support from NRDC, hosts a presentation and panel event to discuss successful decarbonization strategies, including energy efficiency and electrification, adopted by cooperative and condominium apartment buildings, as well as their planning to prepare for compliance with Local Law 97.
📚 Book Party for Grow the Future!

We're gathering the BDC community to celebrate the publication of BDC's first book: Grow the Future: Visions of Biodesign! On Tuesday, May 9, join us for a party to meet and mingle with voices in the book, pick up a copy (or a second copy), and clink glasses to the biodesign ideas that inspire us. One ticket includes two free drinks and snacks.
🚌 Fleet Sustainability Expo
When: Wed, May 10th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Where: JFK, 14 South Service Road, Building 14, Jamaica, NY
The Port Authority of NY & NJ will host an in-person display of technology, equipment, and vehicles that push the boundaries of sustainability in fleet. Each company will have a booth or display along with a representative to describe their product. Speakers from several PANYNJ disciplines will walk-through the process of implementing EVs (electric vehicles) while outside stakeholders will present their vision for the future. All PA staff are welcome and food will be served.
🎨 Creative Climate Awards 2023 - Salon
When: Wed, May 10th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Where: TECO, 1 East 42nd Street, NY, NY
Join us for a lunchtime conversation with Creative Climate Awards 2023 artists Linda Cunningham and Nicky Enright as we explore global issues including the construction and deconstruction of narratives and the contradictions of scientific and technological progress. The discussion will focus on their approach to found and made materials used in their works and how these reflect anger and disbelief, but also hope in the relationship we have with other species and our planet.

🌱 Feeding the Soil
When: Thu, May 11th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

This FREE training will educate participants on how compost improves soil health which leads to growing healthier, nutrient dense food. Participants will learn the key components of composting successfully in an urban environment. This includes: how to build a balanced compost pile; how to manage odor and pest and applications for your finished compost. This is a hands-on workshop so come dressed to get dirty!

👩🌾 Measuring Soil Health

Join Sashti Balasundaram, a social entrepreneur, innovator, and educator. He founded WeRadiate LLC, an AgTech company that develops smart sensors that digitally track data variables such as compost temperature and humidity. This technology makes it easier for operators to ensure healthy, high-quality standards. Sashti has vast knowledge in community composting; he was a teacher of the NYC Master Composter program, co-founded a community garden in Brooklyn, worked at the Lower East Side Ecology Center in NYC, and the Mayor’s Office in the City of Buffalo. We will dig deep into the importance and process of monitoring soil health, how compost can improve soil quality, and explore policy and opportunities for actionable change.

🌱 ECOLOGICAL CITY - Procession for Climate Solutions

Where: Sixth Street Community Center, 638 E 6th St, New York, NY 10009
ECOLOGICAL CITY - Procession for Climate Solutions is an urban ecological pilgrimage and an art and climate action. Ecological City features a spectacular procession of visual art, giant puppets, costumes and 21 site performances celebrating climate solution initiatives throughout the community gardens, neighborhood and East River Park waterfront of the Lower East Side.
