NY Climate Tech: Mar 5 - Mar 12
New York City's Green Economy Action Plan, International Women's Day, and more!
Hi friends,
Hot off the press, we’ve got New York City’s Green Economy Action Plan, announced by Mayor Eric Adams last week! We’ll do a deep dive of all 124 pages and give you the deets on the 63 commitments the city is making to support businesses, nonprofits, and New Yorkers in building a green economy ecosystem. The quick highlights:
The City will position New Yorkers to benefit from nearly 400,000 green collar jobs by 2040 - up from 133,000 today
The plan will advance the $100 million Climate Innovation Hub at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, creating space for more than 150 startups
The Climate Collaborative across the Brooklyn Army Terminal, Governors Island, Brooklyn Navy Yard will deliver 6 million square feet for climate education, research, commercialization, and training
Green Training Facilities will be housed in every borough, providing more than 12,000 green economy apprenticeships
City owned assets will be used to create the largest EV charging facilities in the city and speed up the green transition
The NYC Economic Development Corporation will provide tax incentives to activate 500 MW of battery storage capacity, delivering stronger and more efficient renewable energy
There’s plenty more in there and we look forward to sharing fresh perspectives on what this means for New York climate tech ecosystem!
