NY Climate Tech: Mar 25 - Apr 1
Circularity happy hour, impact investing, women in tech, climate constitutionalism, and more events this week!
Hi friends,
The NY HEAT Act is gaining steam in Albany again, and just passed the Senate last week. The New York Times has a primer on it here, but the tl;dr is that utility currently have to pay to install new gas lines for customers within 100 feet of the pipeline, a cost subsidized by all ratepayers. The NY HEAT act would change that, requiring anyone who wants a new gas line to pay for it themselves, saving ratepayers $200 million. It’s currently with the state Assembly—you can find your assembly member here.
Here are our picks for the week:
On Monday, get happy hour with the ♻️ NYC Circularity Network at TALEA Cobble Hill
Wednesday, head to Impact Hub for 💸 Climate Change & Impact Investing
Join the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce on Thursday for a 👩🔬 Women in Tech Panel at NYU Tandon
Finally on Friday, throw the book at climate change with the ⚖️ Climate Constitutionalism Conference at Pace
As always, you can find the full list of this week’s and upcoming events below.
Cheers,
Alec, Sonam, and the Climate Tech Cities team
