NY Climate Tech: July 24 - July 31
Barbenheimer mania, upcycling nutritious foods, happy hours and park picnics, and more!
Hi friends,
In the midst of Barbenheimer mania, we couldn’t help but join in on the fun this weekend. We hope many of you cooled off from the summer heat and enjoyed a double header (and bonus points if you were able to get a coveted seat at the IMAX 70MM showing in Lincoln Square!).
Barbie is playing her part to raise awareness of climate change among her millions of fans, and we especially love the Dr. Jane Goodall Inspiring Women Doll and her Eco-Leadership Team. As we often say, every job is a climate job and we’re happy to see Barbie support the mantra!
In between all the box office hits, check out our top picks for the week:

⚡️ Voltpost raises $3.6M seed round to turn lamp posts into EV charging posts
Home grown NYC climate tech startup, Voltpost, has raised a $3.6M seed round to turn lamp posts into EV charging posts in cities across the world. By retrofitting existing infrastructure, they hope to reduce the cost of deploying the millions of public EV chargers that will be needed as we decarbonize the transportation sector. For context, McKinsey estimates that we’ll need 20x more public EV charging stations than are currently installed in the US, and those are just 2030 numbers. Voltpost has pilots in place right in our backyard, and we are thrilled to see this local team take on this huge opportunity!
🎧 Living Change: A Quest for Climate Leadership Podcast
Living Change: A Quest for Climate Leadership is a podcast highlighting city leaders, as well as some corporate and cultural influencers, who are wisely making a point to *be seen* themselves to be living change - like riding a bike for local transportation or eating a plant-based diet, etc. - while integrating those values into their leadership policies and practices. Within Season 1, climate influence advisor and host, Andrea Learned, interviews local lawmakers from across the U.S., all sharing their methods of community engagement and how they bring along their lawmaking peers to make transportation infrastructure safer and more just, with an emphasis on their climate action focus.
