NY Climate Tech: Jan 15 - Jan 22
Environmental justice, book clubs, pitch nights, accelerators, happy hours to keep you warm for the winter, and more events this week
Hi friends,
During this MLK day, take a moment to read about Dr. King’s lasting influence on the environmental justice movement. Consider donating or volunteering with WE ACT, Uprose, or one of the many organizations and initiatives supported by the NYC Environmental Justice Alliance.
In state news, Governor Hochul unveiled the 2024 agenda, including banner programs on climate, with focuses on energy, affordability, clean water, and resiliency. Meanwhile, a bill to bring climate education to NY Schools is in assembly and could use your support—at the end of the day, it’s just embarrassing that New Jersey has this and we don’t (and if you’re reading from NJ, well, you get those bragging rights till it’s passed).
Here are our picks for the week:
Spend MLK day at the Apollo for ✊ MLK Young Changemakers The Beloved Community focuses on issues of climate change, global migration and voting rights.
On Wednesday, join join GreenHome NYC for their annual 🌱 Green Catwalk to hear from a lineup of NYC sustainability professionals.
