NY Climate Tech: April 12 - April 19
Climate @ MoMA and French Institute, new jobs, and our next meetup(s)!
Hi all,
With everything going on for Earth month, I couldn’t resist adding another meetup to the schedule:
We’re having our first ever hosted meetup next Tuesday the 19th at Collaborative Fund (thanks to Sonam Velani & Mai Ly for helping organize)!
Since that’s a week earlier than originally planned, we’ll also keep the original date and format and have climate drinks at OCabanon in Chelsea on the 26th (thanks to Petya Georgieva Miller for helping organize that)!
Other events this week have a more artistic bent. The French Institute / Alliance Français is organizing a movie series on climate change every Tuesday this month, with four different films. On Wednesday, you can get your hands dirty with a bio-arts workshop on mycelium, kombucha, and seaweed at the Sixth Street Community Center.
Online, there are two events this Wednesday. The first is hosted by MoMA on sustainable cooking with Stephen Gumpel, executive chef of MoMA’s cafes. The second is an intro to Young Energy Professional’s mentorship program, now in its second year.
Finally, NYSERDA –the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority – is hiring for two roles in their Build-Ready program: a director and a program manager. If you don’t already know it, NYSERDA is a pretty unique state institution, with a ton of programs incentivizing renewable energy and climate development in NY State.

The Director will be responsible for Program strategy and implementation, team management and day-to-day aspects of the Program’s project development portfolio, from site identification through auction. The ultimate priority of this position will be to identify, secure and develop a portfolio of renewable energy projects to meet the Build-Ready Program’s goals and targets while supporting NYSERDA’s and New York State’s clean energy and climate change objectives.
