NY Climate Tech: Apr 15 - Apr 22
Bio-inspired solutions, summits, parties, art of all stripes, and more events this week!
Hi friends,
Earth month is in full swing! Last week the NYC released its latest Environmental Justice report, detailing how historical discrimination in areas like housing and infrastructure (Robert Moses 👀) has left many communities facing greater environmental hazards and poorer health, and proposes public engagement and potential next steps for equitable environmental protection and benefits. The mapping tool overlays an astonishing array of data on a map of NYC to visualize just how each neighborhood is affected by environmental issues.
Here are our picks for the week:
Today from 5 to 7pm, head to the High Line to see Von Wong’s Earth Day sculpture and chat with the artist (installation open through Wednesday)
Tuesday, join GreenHome NYC for 🔌 Efficiency is Decarbonization in Flatiron
On Wednesday, visit ICP in the LES for 📸 City as Canvas to hear about artists and (yes) the Department of Sanitation
Head to CUNY 🧪 The Bio-Inspired Green (BIG) Science & Technology Symposium 2024 on Thursday
Friday through Sunday, the ✨ MYCO Earth Day Summit at BKLN Commons is an intersectional gathering ground for climate leaders, and the professionals, artists, and activists.
Also on Friday, learn all about 🥕 A Sustainable Future for Food in NYC at the Simons Foundation
Finally, celebrate at House of Yes on Saturday at 🪩 Wildlife · Earth Night and Sunday at the 🕺 EARTH LOVE FEST · Block Party
And next week, don’t miss 🎬 Climate Film Festival’s screening of King Coal on Wednesday, April 24 as part of Asia Society’s COAL + ICE exhibition!
Cheers,
Alec, Sonam, and the Climate Tech Cities Team

Our most abundant and easiest decarbonization effort is the often-neglected investment in efficiency. This session will discuss history, science, and will highlight historical efficiency case studies of small (1-4) and large (5+) residential buildings.
