NY Climate Tech: Apr 1 - Apr 8
Urban wildlife, sustainable careers, the SECs new climate rules, Danish demos, High Line art, climate summits, and more upcoming events!
Hi friends,
This past Saturday morning we hosted our first NY Climate Unconference. It was a bit of an experiment: we wanted an event that would create closer connections and catalyze conversation more than your average meetup or panel, but that would be less formal and top-down than a full conference.
We invited anyone who attended to speak, and had 16 incredible discussions over the course of the morning, with a diversity of topics almost too large to summarize: from “traditional” climate tech topics like utilities, interconnection queues, AI, sustainable fuels, and financing to expanded conversations on climate justice, art, nightlife, and changemaking.
And honestly? It was a blast. We kept this one small, with invites to community leaders, regulars, and paid subscribers, but we’ll definitely do more in the future. If you want to be the first to hear about the next one, the best way to is to support our work with a paid subscription!
Here are our picks for the week:
On Wednesday head to NYU for 🦉 Wild Animals in Urban Spaces for a lunch hour panel on wildlife and animals in NYC
Thursday, swing by BE-EX for Women in Sustainability and Energy’s 👷♀️Sustainable Career Showcase, Hells Kitchen for the 🏳️🌈 Out in Climate — NYC Happy Hour, or NYU to ⚖️ learn about the SEC’s Climate Disclosure
Start off Friday with Kaplak’s 🇩🇰 Danish Demo Day - Climate Tech Catalyzer in the morning, then meet artist Benjamin Von Wong and members of the Sustainable Fashion Community Collective on the High Line for 🥳 "Single-Use Reflections" no-frills wrap party (you can also meet the artist on Sunday), and finally unwind at our 🍻 First Friday Meetup in the East Village
On Sunday, head uptown for the 🌐 ESG & Sustainability Global Summit Spring 2024 at Columbia, then keep going north on Monday for the 🌎 Fordham Climate Action Summit 2024
As always, you can find the full list of this week’s and upcoming events below.
Cheers,
Alec, Sonam, and the Climate Tech Cities team
