Welcome to Climate Week NYC
Climate Week is back this September! It officially runs September 20th - 27th, but events really kick off even earlier on Friday, September 18. Last year had over 1,000 events, and we expect just as many this time around. For the official listings and details, check out the Climate Week NYC website.
This is our first-look, unofficial Climate Week guide. We have already tracked 150 events and counting, from major summits and weeklong campuses to technical roundtables, film screenings, investor gatherings, happy hours, and events that resist easy classification.
The most important thing to know is that Climate Week is not one big conference. Think of it as a coral reef: the official program provides some structure, but hundreds of independently organized events gather around it. There are big fish, small fish, institutions with security lines, gatherings in breweries and gardens, and more overlapping panels than any human being could reasonably attend.
Our advice remains the same: choose your own adventure. Pick a few serious sessions, leave space to meet people, and don’t spend seven straight days in Midtown conference rooms. You are just as likely to make a useful connection on a ferry, at a film, or over a beer in Bushwick.

Our Early Read on 2026
It is still early, but a few themes are already coming into focus.
Energy is the headliner. With AI and rising energy prices (and let’s be honest, a flight from the word “climate”), energy is back as a major topic this year. DERVOS provides the opening anchor, followed by a thick slate of events on transmission, demand growth, industrial electrification, investment, and infrastructure.
Regenerative agriculture and food are also back in force. Food Tank and Regen House provide anchor hubs, while specialist sessions dig into regenerative finance, textiles, farming, food waste, resilient agriculture, and supply chains.
Risk, resilience, and adaptation have moved toward the center of the business conversation. Although still less prominent than mitigation, adaptation and resilience are on the rise, with early events on insurance, finance, and physical climate risk.
The sleeper category this year may be circular economy and materials, with more early events than we’ve seen in the past.
The stand-alone finance slate is somewhat lighter than usual so far. Climate tech and startup programming is also thin so far. It’s been a tough year for startups, but really I think we’re all just procrastinating.
Again, this is the EARLY BIRD list of events, likely ~10% of everything going on; we’ll send out a fuller guide as more events get released.

⚡ Fri, Sept. 18: DERVOS
Kick off at DERVOS ’26, previously in October. DERVOS brings together the distributed-energy ecosystem for a leadership day and main conference on Friday, early this year and back on Governor’s Island
🎬 Fri, Sept. 18–Sun, Sept. 20: Climate Film Festival
Head to the Climate Film Festival for three days of screenings, filmmaker conversations, and public programs across New York City. Come to CFF to see what ambitious climate storytelling looks like, and a chance to bring in friends who don’t have an easy access point to the week.
🎙️ Mon, Sept. 21: Narrative Change Summit
Kick off the official week at the Narrative Change Summit. The daylong convening brings together leaders from culture, media, philanthropy, advocacy, science, and industry to show how climate stories can be emotionally resonant and effective.

Monday, Sept. 21
🎙️ Start at the Narrative Change Summit, bringing together filmmakers, artists, media leaders, advocates, funders, brands, scientists, and strategists to examine how climate stories actually reach and move people.
🏛️ For the official big-stage opening, head to the Climate Week NYC Opening Ceremony. Expect the week’s broadest mix of political, business, and institutional climate leadership. Stay for The Hub Live, the official two-day program of plenaries, breakouts, side events, and executive roundtables.
🌊 Catch a different current at The Ocean Awakens, held aboard the historic Tall Ship Wavertree at the South Street Seaport.
☁️ Carbon-removal people can spend the day at the Puro.earth CDR Summit, a full-day gathering for the carbon-removal market and continue the conversation at the Carbon Removal Community Reception.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

🏢 Climate-tech founders and corporate innovation teams should head to Beyond the Pilot: Securing Corporate Adoption.
⚡ Energy people can gather at the Dynamo Energy Transition Summit at Nasdaq for an afternoon of infrastructure, markets, investment, and energy-transition networking.

Friday, Sept. 25
⚡ Start with The Future of the Grid: From Utility Infrastructure to End Users, a useful bridge between large-scale grid planning and the technologies, businesses, and customers operating at the edge.
🔌 Go deeper at the Industrial Electrification Symposium, focused on the work of decarbonizing industrial processes.
🌾 Catch the final day of Food Tank at WNYC’s Greene Space if food and agriculture are your beat.
🌳 Or escape the conference circuit altogether at Climate Week at the New York Botanical Garden. Look at a tree. You have spent enough time under fluorescent lighting.

🌱 Regen House: Sept. 21–24. The gathering place for regenerative food, agriculture, textiles, finance, and the people trying to move “regenerative” from adjective to operating model.
🛡️ The Nest Campus: Sept. 22–24 at the North Javits Center. A large, three-day resilience-economy campus with extensive programming across climate, business, policy, and innovation.
🏢 Ceres Mainstage at Climate Week NYC: Sept. 23 at Convene, Rockefeller Center. A full day of business, finance, policy, transportation, investor, and corporate-sustainability programming.
🌐 World Climate Summit: New York 2026: Sept. 24 at Civic Hall. An institutional climate-and-nature summit for investors, policymakers, financial institutions, and corporations.
🌳 Climate Week at the New York Botanical Garden: Sept. 21–27. A weeklong alternative to the conference circuit, with programming connecting plants, biodiversity, science, and climate.

🗞️ The New York Times Climate Forward: Sept. 23. One of the most visible media events of the week.
🎤 Sustainability LIVE: The Leadership Summit: Sept. 22 at the Javits Center. A private gathering focused on senior sustainability leadership.
🔥 Heatmap House: Expected to return, but a 2026 program has not yet been announced.

Not everything happening that week is publicly accessible. Here’s what else should be on your radar:
🏛️ Climate Week NYC itself runs Sept. 20–27 and includes the official Opening Ceremony, The Hub Live, executive programming, receptions, and a large calendar of partner events.
🌐 United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week runs Sept. 22–28. Expect global leaders, diplomatic events, motorcades, security perimeters, and difficult cross-town travel.
🤝 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting takes place Sept. 22–23 and remains one of the largest invitation- and application-based global-impact gatherings of the week.
