NY Climate Tech has only been growing, and it’s another busy week with seventeen events in the newsletter this week. It was too hard to pick just a few, so we’ve broken it up a bit, with recommendations for conferences and recommendations for culture.

Hey NYC! The Activate Fellowships for Entrepreneurial Scientists and Engineers- Applications open! Activate is the premier program for scientists on a mission. The two-year fellowship provides early-stage hard tech science entrepreneurs $100K in research funding, yearly stipends of up to $110K, intensive entrepreneurial training, mentorship, networking, and other benefits. Two winners will receive $50,000 cash prizes and acceptance into ACRE, New York City’s longest running climatetech startup incubator.

Join us for this one-day, in-person training to learn about Climate Action Days in NYC Public Schools. Resources, planning time, and turnkey lessons will be provided. Trainings are available for elementary, middle, junior, high, and all schools. Sustainability Coordinators and D75 staff are encouraged to attend. CTLE credits and substitute coverage funding available. Climate Action Days will focus on themes such as energy, waste, health, wellness, and water.

🦅 Fall Bird Walk in Central Park - Migration & Climate Change

Join us for a walk through Central Park to learn about the different types of birds that visit and inhabit the park. This session will focus on 'snow birds' and winter residents, as well as late migrants and rarities. Participants will learn how to identify birds and their behavior. This talk by Extinction Rebellion (XR) will discuss the urgency of climate action and how nonviolent direct action can demand change from government, corporations, and media. 🌍 Unheard-of + The Gowanus Dredgers Present: What Remains

Where: Gowanus Bunker Boathouse, 2 19th Street, Brooklyn, NY
Join Unheard-of Ensemble and the Gowanus Dredgers for a paddle-in performance of What Remains. Unheard-of presents Rome Prize winner Christopher Stark’s Fire Ecologies, a climate manifest exploring human impact on America’s ecosystems. The performance takes place on the Gowanus Canal and includes music, video art by Zlatko Ćosić, and an electronic set by Phong Tran. This is part of the Cultural Ecologies series, an immersive set of multimedia concerts exploring climate change and other topics.

Join us for the NYC Climate Cafe, where attendees can discuss difficult emotions that arise out of the climate crisis in a supportive environment.
